  2. Cognitive Development:  To develop the skills needed for curious observation and problem solving through interactive activities with play objects for the purpose of introducing early academic school readiness.
  3. Social-Emotional Development:  To encourage independence and relationships that develops a positive self-concept and an empathetic awareness of the individuality of others.
  4. Language and Literacy Development:  To provide opportunities for written and oral expression through dramatizations.  To understand the importance of language development and to expand their symbolic vocabulary.
  5. Parent, School, Community Involvement:  To build partnerships with families, schools and communities, to build seamless and strong alliances that protect a child’s development.
  6. Program Evaluation:  To involve children, parents, staff and community for the purpose of a comprehensive review to determine the effectiveness of the Napa County Child Development Programs.

Child Development and School Age Programs
The Napa County Child Development Program serves the children of parents who are working, looking for work or who are in training.  Eligibility is determined by the California Department of Education.

Subsidized child care is available to families who meet the state’s eligibility requirements.  Fees may be subsidized by the state, and are determined for each family individually.  Full cost care is available to those families who do not qualify for state subsidization.  Child care fees are determined by the number of hours/days of enrollment for each family.  Nutritious meals and snacks are an integral part of each program.  The Creative Curriculum Approach is implemented at sites to provide developmentally appropriate, planned activities to meet the individual needs of each child throughout the day.
